The Hosiery Factory is a Victorian factory located in Leicester within walking distance of De Montfort University, the University of Leicester, Leicester Royal Infirmary and the city centre. The building provided 2,354 sq m of office space over 5 floors, including a storage area in the basement, and was most recently used by an architectural practice. The building is typical of its time and purpose, being constructed of brick with large windows and a tiled roof, and a largely open plan interior.
The Hosiery Factory was purchased by Campbell Property on behalf of an institutional investor. The asset was converted to provide 107 bedrooms across 21 apartments. The existing undercroft area, previously given over to parking, was converted to provide 3 of the apartments. New build elements of the scheme house a further apartment and a 3 storey extension, providing additional bedrooms to the upper floors and a new stairwell to maximise the useable internal area of the existing building.
